OUR PROGRAMS
The L.O.V.E. Program
Working closely with Communities in Schools, we will work with all school personnel and parents to assist in the development of a child’s loving and kind nature. We will work in tandem with the teacher one day a week to teach the children lessons in love and kindness. The children will learn how to recognize and appreciate cultural, emotional, ethnic, family, language, learning, loving, mental, physical, skin color, and social differences. The children will also learn that while they may not be able to control what happens to them, they can control how they respond.
Each morning the children will begin their day by saying something kind to each other. There will be a Spring Program, in May, where the children will demonstrate (to their parents, volunteers, and all school personnel), in a play, what they have learned about love and kindness.
The Poetry Manifest Project
The Poetry Manifest Project is a program dedicated to revitalizing spoken word/performance poetry.
Candidates must apply to the program in order to be selected.
Chosen poets will submit five original poems for consideration for our live performance. Of the five poems submitted, one poem with be selected by our panel of editors and judges to be performed before a live audience, with the taped version of the show for television being recorded in advance for later airing.
Additionally, the poets' works will be published in the upcoming Manifest Poetry Project Anthology.
